*** CHRISTMAS FAMILIES 2001 ***

Tom
This is the guy in charge, Tom Finnerty

We supported five families, two families of 7, two families of 8 and one family of 9, for a total of 39 members. The five families were provided to us from Friends Together, an organization that Helps Families in Transition. One family consists of a single mother with seven children and they all live in one room. The other four families consist of both parents. Some of the families are in shared housing and we are assured that the other families in the same house will be receiving Christmas from Friends Together also.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
There are certain things that make the program work well. They are listed below to help you.

1) New items only, please. Christmas is the only time they receive anything new. And, we want their Christmas to be special!

2) No clothing sizes have been given because we have found it impossible to fit them. It is so much easier for them to shop for themselves, and is really fun after Christmans because that is something they never get to do!

3) Gift certificates or Cash (wrapped as a package so it does not get lost among all the gifts) is best for everybody. The Friends Together organization strongly suggest Cash primarily because often the full value of the certificate is not redeemed by the family. They know the families and can assure that if given cash it will be used for something they need badly - it will not be misused. If you prefer Certificates, the suggested stores would be Mervyns, Target, K-Mart and Payless Shoes.
